ABOUT STEP IN SUPPORT SERVICES

Step In Support Services is a specialist service designed to support the reintegration of vulnerable learners aged 11-18 into school. Our focus is on students experiencing persistent absenteeism, those who are disengaged from school, and/or at risk of exclusion, including those requiring additional support due to needs such as SEMH and other areas of SEND.
Our team works intensively with a caseload of students identified by their respective schools as highest priority. Alongside our in-school presence, we offer structured outreach support that enables learners to engage in tailored off-site activity as part of a personalised reintegration programme. Where appropriate, we signpost or liaise with external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to support.
Each programme is developed collaboratively with the pupil - ensuring their voice is central - alongside the school and family, providing consistent support throughout the learner’s transition back into classroom-based education. Our overarching aim is to remove barriers to learning, in order to increase engagement, reduce persistent absence and disengagement, and contribute to sustained educational outcomes.
